(OOC: Sorry about taking so long. We had a phone outage and I couldn't connect since Monday. It apparantly is working again now, but we'll see for how long.)

Daphne had to admit that what she had just heard was a lot more
than she had known about Caitians before it. She felt bad that she did
not know that information on her own. She could not imagine what the
horror that the heroes described by the Captain had gone through. They
were just simple explorers challenging the limitations of space when they
were kidnappped. It was a strong possibility to explain what had
happened. "Maybe once everything is sorted out, these felinids can be
returned to Cait and reintegrated into society."

The room went silent, and every Caitian was staring at Daphne.
Tr'Lawsh's look of horror was mirrored in every Caitian face. Even the
Klingons scowled. "They arrre not Caitainsss," she said softly,
softening her look to not frighten her. "We do not know what they arrre,
but they arrre not Caitiansss." It was almost as if Daphne had suggested
that Klingon pet targs be integrated as citizens in the Empire.

Daphne did not understand. She was not meaning to be argumentative. "But, they were once. These felinids may have even been decended from some of you greatest heroes. You had said that yourself. You don't just throw people away becuase they have been retarded by genetics."

Tr'Lawsh took on the look of a patient mother, even as some of the other Caitians were starting to unsheathe their claws. "Perrrhapss they werrre once Caitiansss, but they arrre no longerrr. They arrre violent, honorrrlesss animalsss. Abominationsss." She took Daphne's arm and led her off to the corner to speak quietly. "It isss a verrry complicated isssue, Commanderrr, one that will divide ourrr people asss nothing hasss done sssince we learrrned of ourrrr Kzinti rrrootss. Mossst Caitiansss will feel pity forrr them, becaussse they werrre made the way they arrre againssst theirrr willsss. But forrr thossse of usss who have fought them, ssseen the hatrrred and contempt in theirrr eyes when they look at usss, ssseen how they sssmile asss they desstrrroy ourrr people, they arrre monsssterrss. They arrre everrrything we have worrrked ssso harrrd to overrrcome, and theirrr violence ssshamess ourrr people to the corrre. Did yourrr people welcome the genetically alterrred humansss of the Eugenicsss Warrrs? Khan Noonian Sssingh and hisss lot?" she asked, curious. She thought it might be an analogy, but she didn't know enough Terran history to be sure.
