"It would seem that we all let our feelings get the best of us.
I am not sure that there are any right or wrong answers to this problem.
I was not offended by the strength of your argument. It only helped me
understand it better."  Daphne's response was diplomatic and meant not to
show pity for their losses, but to respect them for their opinions and
their willingness to stand up for them.

Tr'Lawsh bowed deeply again.  "Well ssspoken, Commanderrr.  Sssince the
daysss of firrrsst contact between ourrr peoplesss, we have ssstood
ssside by ssside in frrriendssship, and the godsss grrrant that we
ssshall alwaysss do sso."  She offered her hand in the human fashion.

Daphne took the Captain's hand and smiled in relief.  She really had thought that she had offended her co-workers beyond the ability to repair.  "I have no doubt that that will be the case."  He father, who had been a diplomat, would probably have been both surprised and proud of how she had handled the situation.  She had never been considered the most diplomtic of the Ares clan.

The Caitian smiled.  "Thessse isssuess arrre forrr the futurrre, and I
hope ourrr peoplesss can help each otherrr in thisss when the time
comesss.  But forrr now, thessse crrreaturress arrre a dangerrrouss
thrrreat, and we mussst ssstop them and theirrr masssterrss."

"You won't have any confusion about that fact from me.  I have a feeling that these two races are going to prove to be a greater threat to the quadrant than we realize."
