Daphne had to admit that Khan and his people were not welcomed into society, but history had shown that that had happened only after they had tried to take over the Enterprise. Things might have been different. But that did not meen that Tr'Lawsh's point was not taken. They never were brought back into the fold. It was likely that these felinids would suffer the same fate, though it would be a waste if that were the case.

"My apologies, Captain. My intention was not to be judgemental or critical. In fact, that is one of the reasons why it was so important that I work with you and your fellow Caitians. You are able to provide me with a different perspective on things and challenges that will be faces while working to get information from the felinids."

Tr'Lawsh turned and said something in Caitian that the translators could not decipher, and the other Caitians in the room backed down, then looked ashamed, and as a group bowed to Daphne. The Klingons also eased off, seeing their Caitian comrades relaxing. The unusual group had become quite close, it seemed, in the time they had spent fighting together.

Tr'Lawsh turned back and bowed. "I apologize on behalf of all herrre," she said. "Thisss isss an extrrremely volatile sssubject among Caitiansss, to the point that sssome leaderrrss, like Admirrral Kitanya and otherrr esssteemed elderrrss, fearrr it could divide ourrr people irrrepairrably. We who have fought them know only theirrr crruelty and hate of ourrr people, and have watched too many frrriendss die at the handsss of thossse who ssshould be ourrr brrrotherrss and sssissterrrss. We have offerrrred ourrr handsss in peace and they have chopped it off. But we ssshould not have turrrned on you ssso, and we asssk yourrr forrrgivenesss." There was a pause - Tr'Lawsh and the others were actually waiting for her to respond. It was obvious that if she did not forgive them, they might actually do something drastic, like offer to serve her indefinately.
