"I have to agree with you there. It is actually more draining then field work. I have not done much physically to wear me out, but this intellectual sparring is draining me mentally."
"Ssso tell me, arrre you happy with yourrr new asssignment?" Tr'Lawsh
knew better than to ask about Daphne's previous operations.
"It is different," replied the human before pausing for a moment. "It is not what I am used to, but I am adapting. I know that this is important and I have been assigned to the project. I cannot do anything but do it to the best of my abilities."
"Ssso, you like thisss?" asked Tr'Lawsh, unsure of what her answer was.
"Well, I didn't say that I would be rather in enemy territory with only my wits and a phaser to keep myself alive," she replied with a laugh. They reached the turbolift. The doors opened and allowed them access.
"Agrreed. I think I'd be happierrr fighting them than talking to them. I'm a communicationsss officerrr, but communicationsss sssysstemss, not an interrrssspeciess diplomat." She rolled her golden eyes. "But at leassst I might get sssome leave and sssee Terrra. I've neverrr been therrre beforrre."
