>"Could we get a bunch of Caitians in a room and pump in the air?  The
>scents would also pass though, right?"

Tr'Lawsh laughed, then bit it back fast, but couldn't hide her
amusement.  "Sssirrr, no offensse, but you humansss jussst don't
underrrssstand.  Sssmellss convey morrre than jussst identity.  They convey
emotion, thoughtsss, communication.  It would be like having humansss
carrry on a converrrssation in the next rrroom, while the holodeck showed a
wild celebrrration to yourrr god.  It would make no sssensse.  Betterrr to
trrry and convince Admirrral Kitanya to sssend out a call to the Mikan."

"I will be in touch with her shortly, and I will ask her about it then.  And Captain, us humans are surprisingly capable to learn and adapt.  We can be fierce enemies and the staunchest of friends.  They need to know that.  They need to know that both friends and enemies are found in surprising places.  The Klingon Empire and the Federation are ready to be either.  But that choice is theirs."  Black said taking note of the Caitian's comment.

Daphne had said nothing until this point.  Tr'Lawsh was definitely more knowledgeable about the concerns that were being discussed than she was.  What she said definitley made sense.  "I think that we can only be honest about the situation and our concerns.  That is the only way to gain their trust whether it is in the holodeck or in reality."
