"Very well," he said. "Would you like either a Catholic, Rihannsu or
nondenominational blessing before I head off to hear your fiance's
confession?" he asked.

"Rihannsu," Carrhae replied without hesitation.

Father O'Malley placed his hand upon her head. <[Fire, Water, Air and Earth, and the the Archelement charged with keeping Them all in balance: We gather this day for a celebration of two lives becoming one, and we ask that Your balance and sense of Honor be with this woman and her intended now, at the time of their promise, and for all time.]> He removed his hand, then stood. "Now for Matthew," he said. "I look forward to the moment we all meet together."

Carrhae respectfully bowed to the priest. "Thank you, Father O'Malley. I will
see you again at the appointed time."

She watched as he exchanged bows with her grandfather and left the room. When
the elderly Rihana turned towards her with questions on his face, she
intentionally met his eyes for a moment then headed back to the dressing table.
The action let him know that his questions were best unasked for they would
receive no answers.

Instead, the conversation turned to safer, family related topics. Neither had
spoken for some time, and both had much to share. Theirs had been a very close
relationship, nearly as close as the one between Carrhae and her grandmother.
This was especially true after she and her sisters had come to live with their
grandparents when their parents had been killed.

It did not take long for the closeness, dulled by long separation, to return
between them.
