The soft ruffle of a Cardassian dress could be heard as Melora Damesh walked
up to the two gentlemen. "Excuse me, Admiral, Ambassador," she said with a
nod to each as she addressed them, "but I believe the General is not due to
officially board the station for five more minutes. I am sure most of the
rest of the Council will be here by then." Melora found talking to the
military an annoyance that was required. True leadership was found with the
diplomats and politicians, and her opinion was in evidence in the tone of
her voice as she addressed the two men. It was clear that she did not hold
Ambassador in high esteem either.

Lasiter, having picked up on her tone, responded, "It is good to see you
Ambassador Damesh. Although, I can not help but think of the great
statesman Golan Dulath when I see you." While Lasiter was not fond of
Watson, for his own reasons, his dislike for Damesh was oddly worse. Since
they were the only ones within earshot, he didn't care what he said.

Watson deliberately turned so his back wasn't towards her, "Ambassador
Damesh, walking up behind people as always. Good to see you as well."

Melora eyed the two Federation citizens with skepticism. "Not everyone is
as observent as you, Ambassador. Most notice when I approach," she repiled
off the cuff. "A comparison to former-Ambassador Dulath is something that I
would consider a compliment considering the respect he has earned among so
many people aboard the station."

Watson was going to respond however...

Lasiter decided against his reply...

Just then, Plantoc Ra'aj approached from one of the adjacent hallways. "My
apologies for not being earlier. I was tied up with a communique with the
Homeworld." She glanced around and noticed that things appeared to be a bit
tense. It was clear that Melora was up to her usual standards. I hope my
absence did not make things difficult."

"Plantoc....good to see you."

T'Kresh nodded to the Ambassador. "The same here."

"Good morning, Plantoc Ra'aj," said Melora. It wasn't clear if she was
saying it because she meant it or to fill the formality.

"Was that a pleasant phrase coming from the grey lips of our dearest of
Cardassian friends," said Valtris without any attempt to hide the sarcasm as
she approached the group. "I am surprised that you are here, Melora. I
would have thought a welcoming party was against your religion."

Lasiter cracked a smile at the Klingon's comment.
