It was not so much that he was surprised by having his own desk. It wasgoing
to happen at some point. He had just not really thought that much about it.
He was going to have his own space. It gave hime a sense of pride. For that
reason, he was silent for a moment as he took a seat and rested his hands on
his new desk before looking back to Neera. "Will I have a partner?"
"I would say yes. Most of us work in teams of at least two. I have not heard
who or how many other officers will be working on your team. We will have to
wait to speak with Commander K'Tael about that when he returns. He is due
back today, from what I understand."
"I will look forward to meeting him. Is there any sort of schedule or docket
that we should check to see what I should be doing before he arrives?"
The Bolian woman nodded. "If you will come this way, I will show you the
assignment board. The duty officer always posts who will be doing what. It
will give you and idea of who you will be working with and it in what part
of the station for your shift. If something comes up during the shift, you
might be moved, but it is meant for general patrol purposes. It has become
quite important, particularly since the bombing that occurred aboard the
station recently."
Geb had heard about the bombing on the station. It was hard not to. The
fact that it was timed to occur at the attack at the funeral for the son of
Admial Lasiter made it extremely newsworthy.
The Lieutenant walked up to the board and highlighted his name. As you can
see, you have been assigned to work near Primary Sickbay. You will be
working with Ensign Torgath.
He did not recognize the race or gender that would go with that name. "Is
he or she here?"
"Mr. Torgath should be in the briefing room. We usually start each shift
with a briefing about possible criminals coming through the station or
things that we need to be particularly aware of. I can escort you to the
room if you would like. The briefing should be starting in about five
minutes."
(response? I will assume that it is ok. If not, I can rewrite.)
The lovely blue lady led Geb through the back of the common area were all
the desk were to a door. Once they arrived, it slid aside. There were a
number of Security officers already there. The room was arranged with rows
of tables. Two tables per row each having two chairs. There were aisles on
the outisde and in the middle of the each row. "Feel free to take a seat,
Mr. Briknor. Mr. Torgath is right over there," she said indicated a small
dwarf-like officer. Geb was not likely familiar with his race.
(response?)
Neera smiled as she saw Geb's reaction. Talk about Mutt and Jeff. "Please
let me know if there is anything I can help you with, Mr. Briknor," she said
before turning back to head to her desk.
(response?)
