Joanna made her way to the docking area with a duffle bag of clothes hung
over one of her shoulders. She saw David and the Admiral standing there
waiting. "My apologies, gentlemen, but I had to arrange coverage for my
patients as well as preparing for the trip."
"No problem, Counselor. I am just glad that you were able to rearrange your
schedule so you could join us," replied the senior officer.
"Hello, David."
"Joanna." He gave her a meek smile but his heart leapt when he saw her.
Jared could sense that there was something between them, but was not sure
what it was. He could only hope that it would not interfere with things.
Joanna could sense that he felt a bit of relief. She was not sure if he
thought it was just from seeing her or the fact that she was not put off by
what happened earlier. She glanced back and forth between the two men.
"Well, we can launch whenever you two are ready."

"Is there any sort of prep I should do to get ready for this?" she asked.
