"I came here to converse with you, not to argue, but if you insist... Your
lineage, while interesting to some, is of no interest to me. The Ramesar
consider all Venasians to be the same as those we had the misfortune of
encountering so many years ago- tactless, arrogant, racist, pirates,"
answered Marconis equally cold.

Levy stepped in, "Emisary, Tremea, please...I would encourage you to place
your personal feelings for each other aside. We are here for the purpose of
working together. I would hope this would not interfere with that."

The Emissary shifted his gaze from the souped up Venasian to Levy. "Mr.
Levy, I do appreciate your sentiment. Some time ago, the Ramesar and the
Venasians crossed paths, and it led to a war. A costly one for both sides.
It would appear that both our peoples have long memories of that conflict.
You assume that I have personal feelings for Venasian Ambassador. I assure
you that is not the case. I care for her as much as she cares for me, sir.
The problem at hand is not with the individual, but with the race. Now,
unless I'm mistaken, this is the very type of matter that this Council was
founded to work with before they led to another bloody and costly war."

"While memories can pain us for a long time, it is the individual respect
for each other that can allow us to work through our issues, and therefore
work together. Feel free to bring this issue to the senior Council members
but I will ask, for the sake of personal honor and the respect of other
Council members, I would request you please keep these disagreements private
for now."

Koomah thought Levy was almost patronizing Marconis and his Venasian
counterpart. There was no way to treat either one of that. "Since we are
all diplomats who have been assigned to this responsibility, I am sure that
we should be able to handle such disagreements. We are all professionals.
That does not mean that we are not allowed to disagree ... Just that we do
it in a way that is not immature."

Marconis had read plenty about the Klingons and knew of their prowess as
warriors. However, this one showed an impressive talent for diplomacy. He
would watch this one closely....

"Indeed Koomah. Indeed. The Starfleet observers on Rames told us about the
warrior prowess and code of honor of the Klingon people. He failed to mention
that you were superb diplomats as well."

The Emisary most definately seemed to have relaxed a bit.
