While the briefing that Gabe had just completed was a difficult,
stress-filled one, the next event in his schedule was one that he had
been looking forward to since he first heard of the possibility. He
had quickly made his way onto the main concourse on the deck that
Audra's ship was docked on. It did not take him long to find the
boarding tube. Standing at its entrance was his family. He walked
over with a smile, "It looks like the party can officially start. We
are all here."
Ariel glanced at her baby brother. "Last to arrive again, I see," she
said playfully. They were the two closest in age of the four
siblings.
Gabe laughed. "Hey, if I remember correctly, it was you girls who made
us late to everything because you had to get the look just right when
we were going out."
Daphne eyed her younger sister with a look of warning. She had always
taken on a role of caretaker among the group. It was only natural
considering the fact that she was the eldest. "At least we are all
here." She turned to Celine, "Have you heard from LA recently?"
"We have not really had too much chance to talk. He is working
undercover so access is somewhat limited." There was a touch of
sadness to Celine's voice as she responded to the question.
Daphne rested a hand on her sister-in-law. Being in Special Ops, she
knew how difficult it could be to develop relationships. "You will be
able to catch up once things have settled in."
Ariel listened carefully to the conversation. She felt bad that LA
was separated from his family, but at least they were close to the rest
of the Ares clan. Mama and Papa were only planetside and most of the
siblings seemed to know be stationed within the Sol System. "We should
probably consider moving on to the restaurant."
Daphne nodded. "Sounds like a plan." She turned to Gabe before
continuing. "I thought we could go to La Belle Cusine for lunch."
"Perhaps we could see if your parents are available to join us," added
Celine. "That would make it a real family reunion."
Ariel nodded. "That would be a wonderful idea. We can give them a
call once we get down there."
"It will be like the good old days," he said. "I sounds like the
perfect place to eat. We could do fondu."
