I have yet to see evidence of a spammer making more than a 
middle-class income from spam activities. A big home can be mortgaged 
to the hilt: Sanford Wallace used to rent big, expensive cars (and a 
driver) when the press came to call.

Steve Linford of spamhaus.org once told me that he only knew of one 
spammer who appeared to be "rich". I don't doubt that there's a 
handful of rich spammers, but it's a very small handful -- like, 
fewer than a dozen. Even if you steal from hundreds of millions of 
people, a penny per theft is still a comparatively small amount.
