I see that Spanning Sync Tools are out of beta and now cost $9.99 for
Spanning Sync subscribers. I'm a little peeved by this cost for the
following reason. Spanning Sync should sync my google contacts and
mac address book, even if I don't enter my data exactly as the
Spanning Sync developers want. Unfortunately, there are contacts
entered into address book that don't sync at all to google and vice
versa. So Spanning Sync Tools "clean up" my address book (i.e.,
format entries into a way that works for Spanning Sync developers) to
sync those contacts. That functionality is fundamental to a
synchronization because without it, all my contacts don't sync. If
all my contacts don't sync with Spanning Sync, the onus is on them to
fix it either inherently with Spanning Sync or by giving a tool like
Spanning Sync Tools to fix the problem.

In other words, if Spanning Sync worked properly without Tools, then
charge for the extra program. But Spanning Sync doesn't work properly
for me without Tools, and even leaves out some contacts from syncing
even when Tools says all my contacts are ok. (Yes, I've submitted
troubleshooting reports, and the only response I got was to use
Tools).

I don't mean to be abrasive or ramble; in many ways, Spanning Sync is
very good. But charging for extra software to make the original
software work almost properly isn't right.
