Apart from the address one, Google openly communicates on those limitations: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=139635 (see the last bullet point)
Try to crate a new contacts with 4 e-mails addresses, 3 mobile numbers, and a postal address in the gmail interface and see what you are getting on your iPhone and you will understand the issue. If you are only storing one or two numbers and email addresses per contact, sure it works fine. Otherwise it is too limited.
