Not being a Verity expert - I don't know if Verity automatically creates
indexes in an 'optimized' way. It may not for speed purposes. Ie, it may
assume your collection isn't large enough to warrant optimization, or that
you may want a quick creation. You may want to try optimizing the virgin
collection anyway.
Anyway, try that - and if searching still takes a long time - let me know.
It may be something else.
