I have heard on the grapevine that 'Greylock', the new COAPI in CF is moving
away from storing ContentObjects in WDDX - the database will now use a
standard relational model, but it will however allow you to externalise the
objects in standard XML format for distribution...

I also hear that SOAP is the preferred model for web programming interfaces.

With this in mind - how will you be able to create a standard database
schema which allows multiple CO's to be held in one database without the
need to create a new schema for each new project (this was and is Spectra
greatest strength IMHO)
