I think backward compatibility has never stood high in the minds of Allaire
and now Macromedia. Consider all the problems we've had with locking between
CF 4 and 4.5.
I think it's pretty weak to make a structural design decision that becomes
the basis for everybody's programming work and then just change it. Even
though I applaud more relational elements in the Spectra Core (Goodbye
Verity and good riddance!) I also believe that design decisions should be
made to last. We're not jojo's here. I also would like to point out to
Macromedia as an American company that in Europe multilinguality is a key
concern. XML is still the best way to achieve this. *If* there's going to be
a structural change in the way the COAPI is stored I hope the strenghts of
XML are going to properly mixed in. A strictly relational framework for
multilingual applications sounds like a nightmare, although possible.
