In my experience most kernel hangs with the alcatel module come from: (1) Trying to use the alcatel kernel module with an SMP or preemptable kernel. (2) Bugs in the USB subsystem (this occurs for several kernel versions; it also depends on the hub driver you use). All the best, Duncan.
