In /var/log/debug

If you're not already collecting ppp debug info, you need to do this:

# vi /etc/syslog.conf
...add the following line...
daemon.debug       /var/log/debug
# touch /var/log/debug
# kill -HUP `cat /var/run/syslogd.pid`

Also you need to tell pppd to log debug info, by giving it the "debug"
option, for example as a line in /etc/ppp/peers/adsl

Then in /var/log/debug you will see all the PPP control packets listed,
including those for CHAP authentication.
