This isn't the normal output. There is normally a section about CHAP
authentication as follows:

Jan 19 19:11:41 localhost pppd[1696]: Couldn't increase MTU to 1500. Using 1492
Jan 19 19:11:41 localhost pppd[1696]: CHAP authentication succeeded
Jan 19 19:11:41 localhost pppd[1696]: Local IP address changed to 82.14.23.153
Jan 19 19:11:41 localhost pppd[1696]: Remote IP address changed to 194.145.148.5
Jan 19 19:11:41 localhost pppd[1696]: can't open routing table /proc/net/route:
Permission denied
Jan 19 19:11:41 localhost kernel: NET: Registered protocol family 4
Jan 19 19:11:41 localhost kernel: NET: Registered protocol family 5
Jan 19 19:11:41 localhost NET[2244]: /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-post :
updated /etc/resolv.conf

That follows the messages above in my normal output. (im not sure if I have all
the messages, I think the MTU one is repeated a few times)

Cheers,
    Richard
