Has anybody found a better way to install the glass and trim ring than I
have for those Lucas bullet type lamps used on early Spitfires (and surely
other cars)? These are the ones that have a glass bullet type lens and
chrome retaining ring that are all held in place by the surrounding RUBBER
FROM HELL!! THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY! It took me about two hours to
install just three of those little buggers, (there are four more to be
installed on the back) and there is just NO WAY that it took that long at
the factory. I dont know, but t this point I may prefer to install the
metal trim and windscreen glazing on MK 4 Spitfires than to try to get that
little lip over the metal retaining rim. Is there a mini version of the
rope trick? Some special tool that I can make instead of the small
screwdriver that I am now using to get the blasted chrome retaining ring on
without scratching the paint when the small screwdriver slips? Somebody
MUST have a better way else these are the spawn of Lucas Hell!!!! My wife
was afraid to approach me after the ordeal (and it her car)- Araggggh

OKI have taken my medicationall is calm...look at all the pretty
colorsnowcan anybody offer a better solution?
