    As an active shooter who relies heavily on information published in
magazines to find new train watching locations, I know the dangers of
retouched photos. Here at Railfan & Railroad, our policy is that we will
NOT retouch any photos (other than exposure tweaking, which is corrected
at our printer) on any news or feature piece.
    Now that I've said that, I will admit that we did retouch one photo
recently. We had a black & white news photo of a steam locomotive being
towed over a bridge on its way to a new home. We removed graffiti from
the bridge, only because the words painted on the bridge were not
suitable for viewing in a family magazine. Had the graffiti said
"Aerosmith Rules" (or somesuch) we would not have removed it from the
photo.
    Rest assured that when you visit a location pictured in R&R, what
you saw is what you'll get.
