Howdy All,
It's good to know that Railfan & Railroad is showing us what the slide
or
print actually looks like. However there is something to be said for
retouching for technical errors. Such as a hair on the slide/negative, a
scratch (with no thanks to the old Kodalux) or a wacko color balance. If you
want to sell a good cover for an issue, usually its gotta be snappy in color
(maybe change the color balance to be more pleasing), technically perfect
(remove hairs & scratches), and fit the size of the cover (crop the image).
Since the invention of Photoshop® and film/print scanners, anything is
possible. So what you see may not what you are actually getting or want to
get. I'm not pointing the finger at R&R, but just pointing out this is
commonly done in all print media today, railroad related or not.
