It's an old axiom, "The action is always better on the other side of (fill
in the blank)" I've had the same problem shooting north track vs south
track on Cajon, etc. If you want real frustration try shooting in the urban
environment of Kansas City. Almost wherever you are there is something more
interesting with better light behind you, or across the road.  

But seriously, folks;

You can't get them all anyway, so better a few good ones than shots of
everything that goes by.
