We recently had a fire alarm contractor verify the monitoring of the
sprinkler system by moving some valves. As it turned out they
inadvertently opened/closed some valves that they weren't suppose to and
later that evening the dry-pipe valve accidentally tripped. So if the
alarm contractor must leave hands-off the sprinkler system completely,
does that mean they must coordinate with the sprinkler contractor every
time valve monitoring work is being done?

Subject: RE: Testing

That would most likely depend on the contracting laws of your state or
municipality. In our state in order to perform fire sprinkler tests or
inspections you have to be a licensed sprinkler contractor. In order to
hold that license you have to have a full time NICET level III or IV in
Sprinkler Layout on staff. I doubt that an electrical contractor would
have someone like that on staff.

I would contact the state or local licensing board with that question.
