Greg,

A compartment only requires a minimum of 8" lintel, it can have a cased
opening.
However, if you are talking about Orange Beach, then you will have to
add the head.

Subject: bathrooms in 13 residential

NFPA #13 2007 edition

A.3.3.2 Bathroom. A room is still considered a bathroom if it contains
just a toilet. Additionally, two bathrooms can be adjacent to each other
and are considered separate rooms, provided they are enclosed with the
required level of construction.

I have an AHJ that is stating that this excerpt from NFPA #13 is
requiring a toilet room to have 20 minute walls to be considered a
separate room with a UL listed door.

Has anyone researched this? Is this the intent in 13?

Thanks,
Greg
