There is no written local amendment just his interruption. He's the FM so you could take it to the FC.
We even gave him a copy of ASFA's Informal Interruption, he still would not accept it. Dale F. We have already been down that road with him, bottom line, he wants the head. If you read the definitions for bathroom and compartment in NFPA 13, you will see that it is very clear that they are separate rooms. We were not able to get him to accept it even when we showed him what was in black and white. Good luck, Dale F. However, I want to know the TRUTH regardless of what TP requires. He is hung up on the "required level of protection" statement. Where do we define this level? If it is an AHJ call then I understand. If it is written then we have a discussion point. A room is still considered a bathroom if it contains just a toilet. Additionally, two bathrooms can be adjacent to each other and are considered separate rooms, provided they are enclosed with the required level of construction. I have an AHJ that is stating that this excerpt from NFPA #13 is requiring a toilet room to have 20 minute walls to be considered a separate room with a UL listed door. Has anyone researched this? Is this the intent in 13?
