We are seeking opinions and experience with the use of pressure reducing valves
on NFPA 13D, multipurpose piping systems (Wirsbo).

The 2002 edition of 13D, section 6.3 item 7, appears to not allow pressure
reducing valves on multipurpose sprinkler systems.

We are in the midst of reviewing a 13D multipurpose piping system that uses a
pressure reducing valve, due to plumbing code requirements that limit plumbing
system pressure. It is a small PRV and undoubtedly not a PRV listed for fire
protection.

Is this an acceptable arrangement?

Thank you,

Rich Richardson
