why not use rock wool / mineral wool? It is commonly used in UL listed Perimeter Fire Containment Systems. One problem is vibrations and consequent shaking of material loose. Frangible fibers below 10 microns get stuck in the alveolars and might / probably cause cancer (like asbestos, though that is my guess only). So I would wrap it tight. the other option is to do what the mechanical trades do with ducts running vertically between floors: wrap it in a 1 hour chase (5/8 inch Type X rock) with minimum 18 inch clearance from combustible framing and have maintenance inspection ports.
would not semi- muffler shops have something more finely tuned to your challenge, though? scot deal excelsior fire On 12/13/07, Ryan Peterson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Can anyone recommend a product for insulating diesel fire pump exhaust? > _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list [email protected] http://lists.firesprinkler.org/mailman/listinfo/sprinklerforum To Unsubscribe, send an email to:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Put the word unsubscribe in the subject field)
