We discussed that section and it states "around or away from objects during
installation".  This is not the case; the deflection is cause by the
ductwork pushing down on the plastic pipe.  The permissible bending
deflection does not state that the deflection can be cause by something
pushing on the pipe.  Am I miss interpreting "around and away" to mean it
cannot forced by contact?

Blazemaster (TYCO) installation instructions & tech handbook Jan 2005 lists 
Permissible bending deflections in table "J" based upon size of pipe and 
length.
Example: 1" cpvc is allowed to bend or deflect 6.3" in 5'-0" (5'-0" also 
just happens to be the max hanger spacing for 1".
Sounds like you have a compound deflection (bow) so 1/2 the allowed would 
seem appropriate.
