I actually did that with a hotel in Savannah, GA which had Omegas. They did change them.

Like voting, if you don't, you're part of the problem and should lose your
right to bitch. How would you feel if you noted a deficiency, then there was
a fire and someone died? Regardless of whether you are a professional and
therefore have a legal liability, or if you're like me, just CET and not a
"professional", you'd still have to live with knowing you MIGHT have been
able to prevent it.

Recently we ended up staying in an unsprinklered 7 story hotel.
I'll omit who set it up - it's too ironic.
It was on the USFA list as SPRINKLERED.
Got in our room on 5th, no A.S.

Called front desk- "only suites in new wing are sprinklered, but there are
sprinklers in ALL the hallways. And no suites were available to move to."

Looked in hallway. They'd have had to be concealed behind the popcorn paint!
Went in stair tower, since might need it.
Hmm, 3' high trash cans on every level-
How convenient for accumulating combustibles and providing a tripping hazard
if we all needed to use the stairs!

I relocated the one can between my landing and the one below that had a door
to the sprinklered wing. And yes, walked thru it to verify there was a
sprinklered egress path.

Advised front desk of what I saw as a clear and present danger. They
apologized and would look into it.
They didn't do anything, so I emailed corporate.
They said it's a franchise, give em 7 days to respond.
Called the local FD inspector, asked him to stop in and look around.
Got more pacifying statements from corporate and decided heck with it.

It is no longer on the USFA list. If you need to check (and you DO) where to
stay when you travel,
http://www.usfa.dhs.gov/applications/hotel/
will tell you if the hotel is sprinklered.
