Forum, I know I must be reading this wrong but as usual I am in a hurry and could use some help. NFPA-13 (2007) 8.8.5.2.1.3 states that the sprinkler shall be positioned a minimum of 4 times the maximum dimension of the obstruction, but then it goes on to say a maximum of 36" clear space. In my case I have a 24" column I'm trying to avoid which by the 4 times rule would get me 8' away, how does the max. 36" clear come into play? Also look at Figure 8.8.5.2.1.3, I'm so confused ........
