Remember that oil is our most important resource and they have it. The Brits have been concerned about Middle East Oil since 1900. We've been involved with establishing and de-establishing governments there for decades. ARAMCO (now wholly owned by Saudi Arabia) used to stand for Arabian-American Company. My understanding is that the Victaulic piping systems we're so enamored with (access panels aside) were originally developed as portable piping systems for oil fields. No oil and we stop. We do our best to ensure the supply (and make a buck or two on the way). We have a huge stake and a long history in the region and so our companies are there.
