FM would tell you to go with a 0.25/3,000 on a wet system; 5,000 if dry. The shielded aspect is the big issue - as you point out. And if the shielded are is large enough (highway trailer for instance) then I would think FM's protection scheme would make sense.
The 0.15/1,500 has worked inside standard parking garages (autos, SUVs, and pickups; low ceilings) and therefore is reasonable - but as Roland implies, if this is a large trailer, you have a different beast.
