Where do you draw the line; precisely my point. If 6'-6" of the ceiling were low and 2'-9" were high, we would not be having this discussion.
However, I do challenge that it does not meet the definition in 3.3.4. It is an architectural ceiling feature. It is a bounded area of ceiling located at a higher elevation (can be bounded by wall, not just more ceiling, no?) and it is attached to a lower ceiling. That is where you might have an argument that the duct is not attached to the upper ceiling. If the duct was boxed in (which they might do), would this then not meet the definition in full?
