The requirement for NICET is not in 13D or IRC. The state and local fire
officials will have to decide what level of "knowledge and training" they
will accept for designs of these systems. I believe that the IRC P2904 was
supposed to make it possible for anyone with high school math skills, to be
capable of calculating a residential system. Network systems like Wisbo,
still require "factory" engineering, since it is a proprietary formula and
calc program.
Yes I believe that NICET is the best answer when in doubt, but I also
believe that just as plumber have Residential, Journeyman and masters
designations, NICET may need to develop a ??yr residential design program.

TO all,

Do not worry the plumber's are asking the American Society of Sanitary
Engineers (ASSE) to develop a certification program for the plumber to use
to get certified to design and install residential sprinkler systems, if it
is like the ASSE 6000 series certification for medical gas systems, beware.
The plumbing industry is pushing it because the plumbers do not want to pass
the NICET testing requirements for design or installation. Just a quick
heads up to all.

Have a Happy New Year.
