The soffit itself may seem to be your problem, but your Area Density design
will most likely increase in area due to the TJI construction.
See 11.2.3.1.4 And note that TJI construction does not allow use of less
than 3000 SF only solid wood joist const can meet some of the exclusions.

Where a combustible concealed space exist in a NFPA 13 occupancy where you
have TGI construction with the sheet rock attached directly to the wood
beams, protection of the concealed space is not required. But when you have
a soffit area below the combustible concealed space mentioned above,
constructed of combustible construction, does this area require protection?
