Definitely check out the available software - As mentioned (and in no order) HydraCAD, AutoSprink, SprinkCAD and I think FireAcad might still be around too. But, ask about the demo's available from each, trial copies to give it a go on your time on your projects, forget about them showing up for their dog & pony shows. I've tried / used them all, and any of the "demonstration" or "training" days from any of them are a painful waste of time.
Like George said - there is no "best" out of these, but there will be one that you will have a preference for. The only way you'll know if a saddle fits is to throw it on a horse and have a seat. So, see about what trial versions are available and saddle up.
