I went through the process over a year ago of trying to "find" a software
package that would meet the needs of the company and be easy to learn and
have links to Autocad (since I draw in that everyday).  Personally, I ended
up with using SprinkCAD, namely due to the fact that I arranged for their
"training course" which includes a 30 day trial of the program as part of
the fee.  It was moderately priced, the training manual and trainer
(available via email and phone) were very good and so in the end, we
purchased that product.  The benefit was, for a modest investment, I was
given a chance to learn and train on the software before the company made
the larger investment.  Not sure if other packages work this way but it
might be worth looking into.
