Small areas (under 10sf) that are framed out to make the tub / shower fit. We have CC2 sprinklers in the combustible rated ceiling space above but nothing figured for these dead areas. The GC will not call these pipe chases because they do not contain pipe even though there is a rated floor above and below. He either wants them to have a sprinkler, be filled with insulation, or pick up 3000SF design area. We agreed to put sprinklers in the larger ones but many are only about 1.5 SF and it doesn't make sense to install them here. Looking to add about 100 heads per floor (4 stories) and we are trying to find options to save the owner money.
