I'm designing a sprinkler system for a small building approx. 33'x55'
housing a nitric acid manufacturing plant. The underwriters wanted a density
of 0.3 over the entire area. There will also be a water mist system covering
some equipment. This building also has catwalks, decks, platforms and other
obstructions, below which heads will be provided. I'm providing k=8, 286
heads at the upper roof, although the underwriters did not specify the
heads. I will have k=8 heads below the decks and obstructions to maintain
the same design. My question is regarding the temperature of these heads. I
think they should be 165 based on normal practice for in-rack sprinklers
when protecting storage hazards. Any comments?
