You are certainly entitled to disagree.  But what about the plastic in OH 
rooms, deck sprinklers (typically not smooth) and backflow preventers?  Aren't 
these the same issue some have raised?

I can't buy code trumps listing if the listing is more restrictive than the 
code. Who supports my simple prescriptive design if the installation meets code 
and was approved but fails because the listing says no. I know the manufacturer 
will disavow all knowledge. The code official will scurry and hide in hos hidey 
hole. And my insurer will side with whoever says I did something wrong.
