Todd-
I spent a week on Nantucket after the 4th of July rebuilding a fire pump
that ran all night from a fire and the crv didn't open. The facility sorts
and packs single stream recyclables and barges them to the mob in NJ.
Apparently they have a fire about once a month. Another contractor from
Boston was there replacing all the heads in one building; K25, 100' spacing,
dry system, curved roof 30' high. They put up cameras over the winter and
banned smoking because they had footage of someone flicking one in after
dumping their recycle bins. Most of the alarms went off in the wee hours of
the morning so these fires had a while to develop. Most were contained but
not extinguished. The above one that got me there the following day, 8
heads opened and the FD were still working on hot spots at 8 AM. It was in
the building that contains the compressed plastics and paper waiting for the
barge and wasn't loose. The placard said S2, .06/2000, dry adjustment.
Bales stored in stacks to 25'. All machinery parked inside too. The design
was a code cycle old. (Pump was only a 750.)

My only concern was about the possibility of a deep seated fire such as in a
pile of wood chips
