Our building was a parking garage plus 5 story hotel of type IIB construction. Mr. Schultz was very kind to forward to me a copy of the British testing report for assistance. Also, on this side of the pond, San Francisco Fire has their own interior city design criteria for the car stacker systems. The end result we agreed upon here in Charleston was 11.2K ECOH HSW sprinkler protection around the group of three car stackers located 12" below the car stacker when in the high position. The issue we had to work with here in Charleston was the car stacker was a last minute addition and not covered under the original sprinkler permit. The garage was already a black pipe, dry system being supplied by a fire pump that was installed and certified when the car stackers were installed. The secondary objective for our project was a solution that will provide the objective of NFPA 13 for control, and not removing most if not all of the garage and fire pump system. I wish I had a better solution for you. Sincerely Daniel S.
