Any contract I ever had always had a clause as to who (the actual person)
and who that person was expertise wise (title, agency, etc.) provided the
water data and on what date, with an exclusionary clause that I wasn't
responsible for it's accuracy, that all plans and calculations were based
on that data and I wasn't responsible if actual field conditions, something
I had never had any control over, were inadequate, and finally, that I
wasn't the guy to come looking for to pay to fix the problem, whether it
took a re-design as simple as bumping up a pipe size or two, to adding a
tank and pump. In this day when and age when the GC puts into his contract
that the sprinklie has to pay for a structural to calc the building and
then pay if it needs to be strengthened you'd better CYA on anything that
that you can't control. The first exclusion ZI ever put in was that I
wasn't responsible for a backflow unless I said I was as a line item, and
that I expected the jobsite to be ready for me when I was called to come
out or it'd cost you.
