Keep in mind that 10.6.8.1 states, "The requirement of 10.6.8
(prohibition against using UG piping as a ground) shall not preclude the
bonding of the underground piping to the lightning protection grounding
system as required by NFPA 780 in those cases where lightning protection
is provided for the structure."

Think about ... grounding is a term used for "earth" on old electrical
diagrams. An electrical system is not "grounded" unless it goes to
earth. And if you're talking about fire sprinkler piping, it's not
permitted to be used for electrical grounding.

Subject: Grounding

Can aboveground piping be used for grounding or bonding electrical
systems. I see where underground pipe can be used for bonding but not
grounding...
