Tony,

If I understand your post, you are being asked to remove the sprinkler system
from the wood frame combustible Attic space?

Ask them to show you that in NFPA 13.
My copy of 13 states sprinklers may be omitted in an unused Attic of
non-combustible construction.

Subject: Frat House Attic Space

Just received a correction letter regarding a Frat House at a local university.
The 3 story building is a steel/concrete except for the Roof Structure which is
all FRT wood materials. No sprinklers required per NFPA
13 in concealed attic space.

How do I argue with this "logic"???

"3. Add sprinklers to attic space. This location has a history of residents
accessing the attic area and also breaching the ceiling and walls of the rooms
to "expand their living space" into the attic."

I guess we should have done more research on this project before bidding the
job with no attic sprinklers???

Thanks,
