Looking at a typical mini storage facility. At the 5' wide hallways (walls full height to concrete deck) they are looking to install a 3' wide soffit/ceiling down the middle of the hallway. This will leave a 1' gap on each side of the hallway. The soffit/ceiling will be approximately 24" below the upright fire sprinkler deflector that is running down the center of the hallway. Since the soffit/ceiling (continuous obstruction) is less than 4' wide and greater than 18" below the fire sprinkler deflector, then am I correct in thinking that fire sprinklers are not required per NFPA 13 2013 8.5.5.3 to be installed at the soffit/ceiling?
