line is high in the body of the valve and is a 1" NPT connection.

I recall several similar designs for the alarm port in other DPV the old
Automatic model 39 worked the same way as I recall slim slots in the seat. On
major difference is that with external reset there is no need to open the
valve. Resetting none external requires the removal of the hand hole cover
which would allow a visual inspection on the conditions internally. If a lot of
junk brought in by water flow one would see it and carefully clean the seat
ring.  External reset allows the release of the clapper assembly and in my view
would trap anything small enough not to interfere with seating the air and
water seal,  perhaps over the water alarm inlet holes.
I have never been a big fan of external reset valves primarily because if
resetting is done by an untrained person you run the risk of trapping a column
of water above the clapper.
This condition could slow or even prevent the valve from operating if the water
column elevation is sufficient to hold down the clapper. That's why Potter
developed the water column switch.
Sorry for the rant.

Is the low air switch affected by this design?

Curiouser and curiouser. I'm currently doing piece of work in s large food

do..., well, let's just say not too much.
I mentioned this discussion to him and he nodded with that  " Ifeel you
brother" look and said they're clogged a lot.

Hello rongreenman,

Nope it is in the casting for the body.
