When NICET was young (early eighties) we were ceritified 'asslets'--
Automatic Sprinkler System Layout Technicians.
The primary premesis was that systems were PRE-ENGINEERED, all spelled out
in the several small pamphlets. Only the U of Maryland (Roland?) churned
out FP design professionals. There was like one qualified individual per
thousand installations.

Nowadays, it takes a PHD in Philosophy, Law, and Theology for all but the
'pre-engineered' stuff.
